How to set up DNS with Route53 AWS

If you are ready to set up DNS to start your journey with Customerly and use the email marketing, it can be achieved with different providers. In this article, we will talk about how to set up your DNS with Route53 AWS.

How do I add the domain to Customerly and verify it with Route53 AWS?
Check this article to see how to add your domain to Customerly. Then proceed with the following:

  • Then you will see the Domain verification pop-up.

  • Now you need to create a TXT Record as shown on the pop-up.
    Go to your Route53 AWS account. Click on "Hosted zones' under DNS management.


  • Then click on one of the previously added domains to Roure 53.

  • When you are on the domain page, "Click on "Create record".


  • Then Select TXT Record type from the list in AWS

  • Then go back to Customerly and under "Add new domain" copy and paste the information and do the following:

    • Copy and paste the first part of the string "Name of host" from the Customerly.

    • And paste it to the Host field in AWS

    • Copy and paste the string of "Value" from Customerly.

    • And paste the Value to TXT Value in AWS.

    • Select TTL (time).

  • And click "Add another record"

Once done with all the previous steps, click on the "Continue" button in the bottom right corner in Customerly.


  • Then you need to configure another TXT record for the SPF in AWS.
    You previously clicked on "Add another record" and then select "TXT Record" from the list again, then leave the "Record name" field empty in Route 53.

  • Then copy and paste the string from "Value" in Customerly to the TXT value in Route 53.

  • Select TTL.

  • Click on "Create records".

  • Go back to Customerly. Then click on "Continue".


  • And if everything is set up properly, DNS will be verified.

    Please note: it may take up to 24 hours to verify DNS.

    Once all is done, wait for 24 hours and go back to the Domains settings to check your DNS if it has been verified.
